Jobs -> Writing a Good Resume
Your resume is probably the first thing that your prospective employer will see.
If your resume is dirty or not edited perfectly, the employer will have the negative impression about you.
To write a good resume, you must follow certain guidelines.
1. Keep it short.
The HR deparment receives hundreds of other applications if not thousands.
If the HR agent reads only the first page of each resume and you
have 4 pages of resume, then it is obvious that only 1/4 of your information
might be read. If a someone has 2 pages of resume, the information
that can be read by the reviewer is 50%.
Keep your resume as short as possible.
You only have to include most of the time your work experience, job qualifications
and objectives. If you are a new graduate, state your school, the
best awards that you got (if you have 100+ awards then select only the top 3 in your list),
the organizations where you participated etc.
2. Let others read it.
When you write your resume, you often do not notice any errors.
You think that everything is correct until the HR agent notice your error.
To avoid this, you have to let other people read your resume. Ask them
to mark anything that they think is wrong. Other people can sometimes easily
see what you dont see.
3. Make it look like a PRO.
You should not put any color except for black and blue.
Putting colors like pink or yellow just makes your resume unprofessional.
Your resume will compete with other hundreds of resumes.
Make sure your resume looks professional.
If you can buy those special
paper in the bookstores, then buy it! The paper and printing will add
a new degree of professionalism to your resume. Imagine this, you are the
only one who used special paper among 100 applicants.
