Jobs -> Where To Find A Job
Job is almost everywhere. If you just need to find a job, you should
have no problem finding it. In this article, I will help you see the
job sources that you might not see.
Unsolicited Application thru Emails
A cheap and effortless way of looking for a job is to make the job look
after you. One way of doing this is to tell the HR Departments that you
areavailable and looking for a job. You will send your qualifications via
email and the HR Deparment will just store your resume in their database.
When they need someone like you, then they will call you. Of course, you
have to wait. If you can send your resume to +100 HR departments, then
you may have an interview every week.
This method is cheap because all you need is a list of emails and an
Internet connection and a computer. Well, computer is not cheap but you
can always rent at your nearest computer shop. For
a list of emails check this out...
Company Web Sites
Companies normally have their own websites. You can see some job opportunities in their website that are not yet published over newspapers or job websites. This is a good opportunity since you have a bigger chance of getting hired if there is a smaller number of candidates. Once this gets published over the newspaper or in the job sites, you need to compete with other hundreds of applicants possibly better than you.
Job Web Sites
A number of job websites are now available . These websites will store your resume and prospective employers may scout for qualified talents. You can also apply to job postings. Again, you have to remember that thousands of other applicants may have applied for the same position and may have better qualifications than you. The number of competitors is big but your coverage is also big. This is a good place to look for the job that you want IF you believe that you belong to the top 5% of all applicants. Job sites also reserve the right to BAN applicants who do not attend to the scheduled interviews.
Referrals
A very good source of fresh job opportunity is thru referrals. Ask your
friends, relatives and colleagues about job openings in their company
and you might be surprised about the results. A good resume and set of
skills backed by a referral of a friend or relative will be +points
to your application.
Newspaper
Millions of people read newspaper everyday and another millions of people
are looking for a job. In the point of view of the employer, this is a
good thing since this is an effective way of finding the right ONE.
But for your part, competing with a lot of other applicants is a waste
of time since there will always be someone better than you.
University Job Fairs
Top companies often conduct job fairs inside universities. Usually,
this happens during the end of the school year where a lot of students
will be graduating. All you need to do is to sign up, submit your
resume and wait for their call. In our school, pre-employment exams
for some companies are conducted inside our school buildings.
Walking In
This is a very expensive and inconvenient way of looking for a job.
If you will go out in one day and drop your resumes in each company
that you see, you will be lucky if a company will interview you
immediately. This method is really not advisable. The number of
possible interviews compared to the effort that you exerted will
make job hunting a real task.
The coverage of this method is so small. In one day, you can only drop
at most 30 resumes. The cost will also be unjustifiable. Travel expense,
printing of resumes, your attire and meal allowance will contribute to
the cost. I suggest you use other job sources.
